Redgate Smithy is a 200 year old converted Smithy, situated on a country lane just above beautiful Golitha Falls, on the southern edge of Bodmin Moor. We are easily accessible from both the A30 and the A38, and our local village is St.Cleer, near Liskeard. We are very close to Siblyback Lake, and to Cornish Mining Heritage at Minions. Birds and wildlife abound on and around the moor, and there are excellent walking, hacking, and fishing facilities locally.

The area abounds with nineteenth century industrial archaeology; including the extensive mining remains up on the moor, the Wheal Victoria Copper Mine down by Golitha Falls, and the remains of the fascinating Liskeard and Caradon Railway. This linked the heights of Bodmin Moor (for the old granite quarries and copper mines), with Looe on the coast. The very pretty Looe Valley Line still runs from Liskeard to Looe.

We have a lovely woodland garden for guests’ use, a patio and other seating areas, a large conservatory, and comfortable beamed, well equipped cottage style bedrooms, with their own TV and tea & coffee making facilities. Good home-cooked breakfasts, using local produce, are prepared on the range, and served in the light and airy conservatory overlooking the garden. There are excellent pubs and restaurants to go to for your evening meals in the local area

I don't believe one grows older. I think that what happens early on in life is that at a certain age one stands still and stagnates. - T S Eliot
