We run Bank House as a private country home, where guests are very welcome, rather than as a conventional guest house, the aim being a relaxed "house party" ambience. We provide all the facilities one might expect in a quality hotel except a 24 hour reception desk and public restaurant. We are actually within the Staffordshire Moorlands on the edge of the Peak National Park, within 1 mile of Alton Towers theme park and conveniently close to the Potteries, Derbyshire dales, and many historic homes (Chatsworth, Haddon, Kedleston to name just 3). For walkers the "Staffordshire Way" is close by and there are numerous other quiet routes beginning from our gates.

The original house here was some 200 years old, reconstructed by us over the past few years in brick with stone quoins rather in the style of a Derbyshire manor house, but to today's higher standards for warmth and comfort. All the ground floor reception rooms are for our guests enjoyment. There is a piano in the inner hall, also television in both the drawing room and library (the latter also having a video unit).

There is plenty of private off-road parking space and we hope that our visitors will derive some pleasure from our garden.

I went into the business for the money, and the art grew out of it. If people are disillusioned by that remark, I can't help it. It's the truth. - Charlie Chaplin
