The Penscot Inn is ideally located, whether you wish to walk the West Mendip Way and admire the beautiful countryside that is Somerset or enjoy the delights of Bristol, Bath and Wells. There are 10 golf courses within easy reach, horse riding and shooting as well as Clarke's Village, Street and Weston Super Mare, .just take your pick. For the active visitor the Cheddar village has a leisure centre, riding stables, fishing, golf driving range, and sailing activities are available nearby. Potholing and caving can be arranged and this takes the visitor well into the Mendip Cave System. Walker and rambler, there are numerous sign posted paths and nature trails beginning in the Gorge and climbing to the tops of the cliffs giving splendid views of the Mendips and the surrounding countryside. Over 360 botanical species have been identified in the gorge and surrounding countryside. The rare Cheddar Pink is confined to the limestone rocks of the locality. It has single fragrant pink flowers which appear in early summer.The Barn Bistro offers a different eating. Our Bar menu features homemade soup, baguettes, steak and kidney pie through to Steaks and traditional favourites, all of which can be eaten in either the Bar or the Garden Room and even outside in warmer weather. Check In from 14:00, Check Out 10:00. Smoking and Pets not permitted. Cancellation Policy. 48 Hours notice for the date of check in is required for a refund.
