With the largest collection of portraiture in the world, the National Portrait Gallery has over 10,000 works of famous British men and women who have created the history and culture of the nation from the Middle Ages until the present day. In addition to the main collection, the Gallery offers a varied programme of special exhibitions throughout the year..

The recently completed Ondaatje Wing houses new public galleries, a roof top Restaurant with views across London and an IT Gallery offering a touchscreen database of the Gallery's collection. The Gallery is open until 9pm on Thursday and Friday evenings with special evening lectures and music every week.
