Nestled on the banks of the River Thames is Mapledurham House. Historic home of the Blount family for over 500 years. Visit the last working watermill on the River Thames. Inside the house visitors will see a collection of portraits, furniture, great oak staircases and original plaster ceilings. Enjoy a cream tea in the Old Manor Tea Room and browse the well-stocked gift shop. Various events throughout the year
Visitors may also arrive by boat from Caversham.
2012 saw the commissioning of the first hydro powered turbine on the river Thames. The installation of the Archemedes screw turbine was completed in October 2011 and we are now producing green power. This has two benefits. Firstly, we are helping the enviornment and secondly we are ensuring the life of the listed watermill, as the income will help keep the last working watermill on the Thames alive and milling. Mapledurham - powering our way into the future.
