Guests enjoy many of the luxuries of a fine hotel combined with the relaxed atmosphere of a family bed and breakfast. Each bedroom has a recently refurbished en-suite bathroom with either a double shower or a bath with shower over it. We offer all the facilities that you would expect as well as special touches that are typical of Bessiestown: each room has a flat screen digital television and a clock radio; a fridge with fresh milk and chilled water; Marks and Spencer toiletries; hairdryer and large fluffy towels. Bessiestown is a luxurious retreat and a relaxing and refreshing base from which to explore some of the most beautiful countryside in northern England. The Border City of Carlisle, the Lake District, Hadrian’s Wall, Pennine Way, Eden Valley, Carlisle/Settle Railway, Kielder Water and Forest, Solway Coast as well as Gretna Green, famous the world over for romantic weddings and the Borders of Scotland are all in easy driving distance. An ideal break in your journey to or from Scotland, but take our advice and make yours a longer stay - so many visitors in the past have come back time after time to explore the local countryside and to enjoy our hospitality. From Whitsun until the end of August our guests can enjoy sole use of our indoor heated swimming pool. Additionally there are so many stress-free, leisure activities to be enjoyed including horse riding, racing, walking, cycling, bird watching, golf, fishing, sight seeing, historic houses, castles, gardens, leisure centre, museums, art galleries, theatre, archaeology, genealogy and not forgetting retail therapy!
