Attraction in Barking
The Saxon abbey was demolished in the 1540s on the orders of King Henry VIII. Today only the Curfew Tower remains standing alone at one end of the Abbey grounds, although an outline of some of the buildings is visible. St Margaret's church now stands in the grounds of the abbey.
