Fort Nelson is a wonderfully restored Victorian Artillery Fort, overlooking Portsmouth Harbour. The site covers 19 acres and has underground magazines, tunnels and grass ramparts to explore, with stunning views of the countryside to enjoy. The fort is also home to the Royal Armouries collection of artillery; with over 350 guns charting the history and development of artillery from the earliest times to the present day. A live firing takes place every day and our team of professional actors recreate history by bringing to life characters from the past. Free guided tours and acoustiguides are also available.
