Attraction in City
Discover the fascinating history of the capital and its people at the Museum of London. With a collection of more than a million objects the Museum of London is the world's largest urban history museum. Our diverse collections aim to inspire a passion for London in all visitors. The permanent galleries tell the story of London from the prehistoric times to the present. The varied displays range from archaeological finds to contemporary photographs, small everyday objects to vehicles and room reconstructions.
Get to know more about the capital by visiting the newly refurbished World City galleries, which reveal intriguing facts about London life from 1789 to 1914. They combine over 3000 objects with film footage and oral history presentations to bring the period to life in a vivid and exciting way.
Opening in July 2002, the London before London explores the Thames Valley as it was half a million years ago. Following the story of prehistoric Londoners before the Romans, the gallery will also examine the importance of the River Thames in shaping the valley and the lives of its settlers.
The Museum's galleries are accompanied by regular events including lectures, gallery tours, workshops and study days.
