The Old Ship Hotel in Mere is a hotel full of rustic charm and character. Once the private residence of Sir John Coventry MP (untill 1682). It was his banishment from court which lead to the saying "sent to Coventry" being central to the three counties of Wiltshire, Dorset and Somerset we are ideally situated for exploring the area from bath to Salisbury to Bournemouth. It is an area of picturesque villages, historic places to visit and breath taking scenery, all within easy travelling distance. The beautiful 'Stourhead House' and gardens are only 3 miles away and Longleat Safari Park a mere 8 miles away.
