East Midlands Airport is situated just 13 miles from Nottingham, passenger numbers have risen since it started as a commercial Airport in 1965 to 5 million in 2007. With excellent links by busses, coach and Taxis, or if driving, from the North leave M1 @ Junction 24, from the South leave M1 @ Junction 23A, on arrival there is a choice of four thousand parking spaces either long or short stay. Once inside the Airport why not opt for the Express Check In where passengers check themselves in and print their own Boarding Card, of course the usual Check In Desks are also on offer…. The information Desk are happy to help arrange a Porter for wheelchair users and their luggage, or provide fax or photocopy service. Wheelchairs are available throughout the Airport , Disabled passengers have dedicated parking spaces, specially adapted toilets, Hearing Loops and Passenger Assistance Lounges, there is also a First Aid Room for passengers who need a little privacy. Of course there is a choice of shops, Tax and Duty Free perfumes and spirits, a collection of Restaurants, Cafes and Bars many of whom have highchairs and children’s menus, or there is always the Executive Lounge where hot and cold drinks, together with light snacks are available, served within comfy surroundings. ATM’s, Baby Changing Facilities, and Bureaus in which to change money can also be found. For lovers of hitec games a visit to Gamestec is sure to please. Or if there is time to spare Aeropark is situated in the NW of the Airport and is home to fabulous aircraft with intriguing names such as Whirlwind, Buccaneer and Spitfire, the Museum has a brilliant story to share and offers fabulous views of aircraft landing and taking off, there is even a pic-nic area to enjoy…….
