Eshott is a village in Northumberland, located 20 miles north of Newcastle, midway between Morpeth and Alnwick. A small former RAF aerodrome, Eshott Airfield, is located there. During World War II training on Spitfires was carried out there. Eshott Airfield is now used by recreational microlights and small light aircraft. It has both tarmac and grass runways and is also known as Bockenfield Aerodrome. The historic mansion house at Eshott Hall is now the North East's only five star stately home providing accommodation, wedding and conferencing facilities. Eshott Hall is a privately owned mansion house, and Grade II listed building. Six miles away are the beaches of Druridge Bay with 6 miles of golden sand. The market town of Morpeth is 8.5 miles away. Morpeth boasts many riverside walks which link to Carlisle Park. There’s a leisure centre, and a good range of shops, restaurants and hotels. A weekly market is held on Wednesday and a farmers' market on the first Saturday of each month. The town of Alnwick, historically known as the County town of Northumberland, lies 13 miles away. There are numerous stately homes in the area including Alnwick Castle, Cragside House at Rothbury and Wallington Hall.
