Macreddin Village is a new, purpose-built village set in a spectacular, south Wicklow valley. At its heart is the elegant Brooklodge Hotel and Spa, where visitors can relax and enjoy being pampered amid beautiful forest, hill and mountain scenery. Situated close to Aughrim, Macreddin Village also provides for eating, drinking, sporting activities, shopping and conferences - and for residents, there are a number of luxury homes built from cedar wood. Sports enthusiasts will enjoy the 160-acre golf course, the stables and equestrian centre and the marked woodland walking trails as well as clay pigeon shooting, falconry and 4X4 treks through Macreddin Woods. There is an emphasis here on healthy living. The village holds an organic food market once a month from spring through to autumn, and it's home to an organic restaurant and café. Macreddin also produces its own organic beer at a microbrewery, served to customers in the traditional surroundings of Actons Country Pub. The local bakery and smokehouse also turn out delicious food made from organic and free-range produce. There's lots to explore in the wider area, too, from the beaches of Ireland's east coast to the delightful village of Avoca (setting for TV's Ballykissangel) and the Wicklow Mountains National Park.
