A guide to Tarvin | 10 Places to Stay

Latest reviews | Events in Tarvin
Tarvin is a bustling village in the county of Cheshire in North West England, and is home to just under three thousand people. It has an interesting history which dates as far back as the Saxon Settlers who first farmed the land here, and, although many of the houses and cottages were destroyed by a fire centuries ago, there is still an impressive red sandstone church dating back to the 12th century, whose commanding 15th Century tower dominates the skyline. Nearby, the ancient Roman road of Watling Street which journeys from Chester to York runs close to the main street of the village. Tarvin played its part during the English Civil War when a battle ensued near to the church between the Parliamentarian supporters in the village and the Royalists from their stronghold in Chester, today holidaymakers and visitors are more likely to enjoy the range of shops on offer in the High Street, tempting restaurants, and pubs offering a coffee, or something a little stronger. Walkers can enjoy the attractive countryside with a network of footpaths, and the Delamere Forest close by, and, as it is only 6 miles or so from the Roman walled city of Chester it's ideally placed.
