Latest reviews | Events in Alfriston
Alfriston is in the stunning Cuckmere Valley, towns and villages close by include Berwick, Litlington, Selmeston and Wilmington where the impressive "Long Man" can be seen, Eastbourne, and the seaside town of Seaford are also close. The jumble of exquisite historical buildings in Waterloo Square is the heart of the village, water colourists beware, you won't wish to move. Clergy House, a 14th Century thatched beauty with a colourful tapestry of flowers in the garden, next to the parish church St Andrews pure delight. Or why not visit The Star Inn, originally a hostel, changed it's function in the 1500's and became an Inn, once inside centuries rewind. A good day out is Druisillas Park and Zoo with animals from crocodiles to fruit bats that will please, the safari train and bouncy castle won't fail either. The local English Wine Centre is a must, with wine tasting and a tour of their 17th century barn a real pleasure. The Village Festival in August has something for everybody, If you can't make it then why not pencil in the Dickensian evening held on the 1st December. Whatever your reason for going or however long the visit you won't regret a moment.
