Muirhead is a small town in North Lanarkshire in Scotland situated 4 miles north-west of Coatbridge, 7 miles north-east of Glasgow. The town developed during the 19th century as an important industrial centre with coal-mining, brick-making and whiskey distilling industries. Surrounded by countryside, Muirhead is a popular tourist destination ideal for walkers to try the 16km North Calder Heritage Trail, cyclists with the Edinburgh – Glasgow cycle route and golfers with 13 golf courses to choose from in North Lanarkshire.
