Alexandria is a bustling town in the historic county of Dunbartonshire in Scotland, and is home to just over fourteen thousand people. It's ideally placed on the banks of the River Leven in the Vale of Leven which stretches to the shores of Loch Lomond, and is connected with the village of Bonhill on the opposite banks of the river by a bridge. From a small agricultural and farming community it grew with the onset of the Cotton and Textile industry which played a major role in its growth and expansion.
There are an abundance of shops together with factory outlets, a Craft Village, and the Lomond Galleries Shopping Centre on Main Street, there is also a good choice of restaurants, and pubs offering a dram or two. A stroll around the town will uncover a mix of architecture from across the ages and an impressive church built in red sandstone which is dedicated to St Mungo. Spectacular Scottish scenery unfolds nearby, and for those visitors who wish to stay there is a welcome choice of hotels, comfortable B&B's, and cottages, and as it is only 25 miles or so from the busy city of Glasgow its perfectly placed.
