Godshill is a charming picturesque village set on the south eastern side of the Isle of Wight, an Island five miles or so off the coast of Southern England, and it is home to just over fourteen hundred people. It has pretty mellow stone thatched cottages, and houses lining the roads which date back centuries. A stroll around the village will uncover many delights, from tempting gift shops, antique shops with hidden gems, and a range of restaurants to try. The ancient church dedicated to All Saints can be reached from Church Hollow, it looks over the village from its hilltop position and dates back to Medieval times, a closer inspection inside will reward with a fabulous stained glass window designed by William Morris. The winding main street is peppered with interesting shops, there are two welcoming pubs, and a choice of attractive Tea Gardens scattered about. The Blacksmith no longer resides at The Old Smithy but visitors will find colourful exotic birds, shops and a herb garden. At the heart of this beautiful location stands a miniature village to explore, walkers and cyclists can step out on the circular Sunshine Trail, and for those who wish to stay for a while there are attractive cottages, B&B's, and even an 18th Century Country house on offer.
