Educated at Magdalen College, Oxford. Teacher until 1984 when he became a director of Friends of the Earth. Stood as candidate for Green Party without success. In 1990 began career as writer and broadcaster. Presented the BBC series Where On Earth Are We Going? Books include Seeing Green – the Politics of Ecology (1988).
