Wrote for fringe companies during the late 1960s. Plays include The Churchill Play (1974), Weapons of Happiness (1976) and The Genius (1983). Collaborated with David Hare on a number of projects including Pravda (1985). Also written a political thriller, a number of translations and published diaries and essays.
