First Scotsman to be champion jockey. First Classic success in the 2000 Guineas. Won the Oaks and St Leger in 1977. Won the Derby in 1979, 1980, 1989 and 1994. Serious accident led to retirement in 1997. Chairman of Swindon Town Football Club in 2001
