Born 1743. Died 1809 - English playwright and poet.
Daughter of bookseller. First play The Runaway (1776) was written in a fortnight. Wrote 13 works for the stage, most successful was The Belle’s Stratagem (1780). Wrote narrative verse, and poetic correspondence in The World under pseudonym of Anna Matilda.
