Born 1878. Died 1914 - English painter.

Founder member and first president of the Camden Town Group (1911). Painter of landscapes, music-hall scenes, interiors and occasional still lifes. Met Walter Sickert in Dieppe in 1904 beginning a close relationship with French painting. Contributed to Roger Fry’s second Post-Impressionist exhibition in 1912. Died prematurely of pneumonia at the age of 35.
