Born 1839. Died 1923 - Scottish distiller.

Began his career in as an apprentice shoemaker. Worked in quarrying and lime-burning and as a book-keeper before building his own distillery, the Glenfiddich distillery. Opened a second distillery at Balvenie in 1893.
