Molly Reibey
- Favourite Briton.

Born in Bury, Lancashire
Born on 12th of May 1777
Died on 30th of May 1855

Molly Haydock was born in Bury, and after being orphaned at a young age was sent into service. Disliking the life she ran away, and aged 14, while disguised as a boy, stole a horse, was convicted, and transported to New South Wales. In Sydney Molly (or Mary) married, and took an active part in her husband Thomas Reibey’s cargo business, which prospered greatly. When he died she took over its management, and it grew more strongly yet, enabling her to invest in property in the city, and to support good causes.
