Born 1948 - Scottish singer and actress.
Born Marie McDonald McLaughline Lawrie. First hit with Shout (1964), hit in USA with To Sir With Love (1967). Joint winner of 1969 Eurovision Song Contest with Boom Bang-a-Bang. Became better known as entertainer and television personality. Acted in The Growing Pains of Adrian Mole (1987) and Absolutely Fabulous (1995). Awarded OBE in 2000.
