One of world’s leading climbers since 1965. Made first ascent of Tarso Teiroko in the Sahara. First ascents include Mt McKinley, the Ogre, Kangchenjunga, Njptse and Chamlang. Among first Britons to reach summit of Everest by southwest face route. Awarded CBE in 1994.
