Bridgnorth, Shropshire

Review of Bridgnorth by Dawn Roberts on July 27th, 2006
A great place to visit for a short break or a day. We live in the midlands, and this very pretty riverside town was on our doorstep all the time! We kept comparing it to other parts of the country we had visited - Wales, Yorkshire and Cumbria - it really does have a holiday feel about it. The cliff lift enables you to visit both the low town, by the river, and the main high town (you can also use one of a series of steps too - soem are stepper than others!). The town has a lovely, friendly feel - with 'proper' shops such as a delicatessan and butchers, as well as high street shops, gift shops, and a very good choice of cafes, pubs and restaurants to suit all tastes. Spend a few hours simply walking round - we dicovered lots of pretty streets and alleys, the lovely St Leonards church area, and the (worryingly wonky) castle remains and grounds at the top of the town. Cross over the footbridge to the Severn Valley railway - the steam train's journey is lovely, as you follow the river, with lots of choices to stop off (Bewdley, Arley and the country park area around Highley and Hampton Loade). Bridgnorth is definitely worth a visit.

Review of Bridgnorth by Bernard Pritchard on June 2nd, 2006
I think that Brignorth is one of the towns that is unspoilt by progress.I know that on Saturday it is market day and thatit overun with visitors, but on a normal day it is one of the most peaceful places to be.The Castle Walk is one of the most lovely of views of the River Severn and of Low Town that you could wish to see. I go there every week and I will never get bored with the place.Cheers for now. Bernard
