Oxfordshire Reports

Woodstock, Oxfordshire

Review of Woodstock by Nick on June 16th, 2011
Woodstock is a delightful small town, only slightly spoiled by the rather busy road that runs through it. The buildings are, as you would imagine a honey coloured cotswold stone, (this is just up the road from Burford - Cotswold Gateway town) and mostly historic. This is a rather elongated way of saying that the town has retained its character. A nice base for a weekend break - the Oxfordshire Cotswolds are just as lovely as their larger Gloucestershire neighbours. Churchills grave at Bladon also worth a look

Review of Woodstock by Andrew Chudovszky on September 2nd, 2007
We decided to take a break and visit Blenheim Palalce last week and found it aw-inspiring. Woodstock itself is very quanit with an abundence of hotels in varying price brackets. We chose the Vickers Hotel & Restaurant - a bad mistake! While the hotel is very quaint with creeking floorboars, low ceilings and beams, the room itself was rather basic, albeit with its en suite, but without a shower or even an over the bath shower - a problem for the laies - how do they wash their hair? On the restaurant front, not the inviting a la carte menu which was advertised outside, but bar food only. Overall this is an overpriced establishment, not warranting the 95 B&B for 2 and certainly no romatic meal to be had!
