This was once our favourite eating pub. Today the service was very poor despite an empty pub and the food was probably the worst I have eaten in sixty years of pub eating.

The Red Lion used to be our favourite local pub, - wonderful food, great choice good atmosphere. However, now the menu is much reduced, and the service was colourless and uninspiring. The little woman who waited at table was more interested in talking to the barman than paying attention to her customers. The food, when it came, was unattractively dumped on the plates in huge quantities - double what any normal person would want to eat.Really off-puttng The bar area is still quaint but not particularly clean. Not an experience we will be repeating. The management needs improve standards a lot.

Had to wait 40 mins. for our starter, main course was just about warm enough to eat, 1 small bowl of (barely cooked) veg between 3 people. Waffle for dessert was like a chunk of tarmac, cheese & biscuits never even turned up! How this place can charge £14.95 for a sunday lunch is beyond me, and to top it all they tried to charge £6.95 for something we never even ordered! Dire!

Quintessential English country pub. The roast was very tasty made better by the delicious thick gravy. The staff who looked after us were happy and friendly and made sure we had everything we needed without bothering us too much.
Almost had second thoughts about the roast when I saw the steak & kidney pud and the fish and chips come out - but I'll have that next time I visit when the fire is alight. The banoffee pie and ice cream is deadly but delicious -
a proper pud.

on previous visit enjoyed a light lunch (baked potato).Todays choice , steak & kidney pudding was awful. The pudding was served in a soup bowl ,swimming in gravy,The suet pastry was dense & heavy ,the filling consisted of 2 pieces of kidney in a meaty gravy. We saw a chef around so presumed the food was cooked on premises

Wonderful pub, full of history. Cosy, friendly atmosphere. Warm welcome by staff.
Food was lovely and the pub garden is wonderful,it was full of birds feeding their young.
Would advise everyone to visit and we shall be returning on a regular basis...we loved it.
