The whole event from beginning to end was bizarre and although we found it amusing others may find it annoying. Service is incredibly slow, the menu is limited and not helped by half of the items not being available. The staff seemed to think wine was an exotic drink and could only offer me a choice of two, a cabernet franc and a pinotage which seemed an unusual selection. The dining room was dark and lit only by fairy lights and tea lights on the table. These went out well before we had finished. The food is distinctly average, a bit out dated and mine was quite bland. I can only assume that it has changed hands since it won gastro pub of Lincs in 2000?

We booked a table for four and sat down at 12:40.
We were only offered a very limited menue off the specials board. We decided on a two course meal by declining a starter.
We were served our main course one and a quarter hours later at 1:55 and finished the meal at 2:45.
Needless to say we will not be returning to this Pub and cannot recommend it to anyone.

Arriving just after 1215 for lunch a notice above the bar mentioned that good food is worth waiting for, as everything is cooked to order. Despite waiting until nearly 2 o'clock before being directed to the dining room. The food was certainly worth waiting for. But do NOT go if you want a quick service. May only comment is to mention to the customer some idea of the wait involved, before taking the order. Oh yes and the ale was superb as well.
