I have been to many 5 star establishments cruises etc. Our meal and service were of the highest standard the ambience was welcoming and warm.We will be returning and I have told everyone I have been in contact with since. Thank you for a wonderful lunch. You have a very talented chef, Iwould love to meet on next visit. My husband said his fish and chips were the best he had tasted in his life!!!

Good food
Wine selection adequate with some reasonably priced.
Ambiance let down by poor service.
Even though quiet at lunchtime, two bar staff seemed more interested in other duties than serving customers with accompanying noise in dining room.
Asked twice for winelist.
Chef bellowed order ready from kitchen three times before waitress responded.
Entitled to expect better at prices.
Shall not revisit.

This is a well run public house with superb food and cask ales, friendly atmosphere. The food is second to none, with a superb range of deserts. The interior has been refurbished in a traditional fashion, still providing that just pub look. This is still a very local pub with a lively customer base. I highly reccommend the highwayman as a casual drink or a night out to remember.
