Awful food, awful service and an awful atmosphere. This so called restaurant is badly run by a manager/owner with no people skills. The waiting staff have obviously had no guidance or training and the 1 chef is unable to cope. AVOID!!

I should have read the reviews before going, but not the ones from John he must have connections with this Cafe.
Food very poor, service very poor,
prices to high, would not recommend.

We went there for 1st time to try it out, with 2 young children we ordered starters of which I ordered king prawns salt and pepper, which to my amazement came out swimming in BBQ sauce, I asked if I had been given the right dish and was informed by a shrug of the shoulders and an 'i think so' off the waitress. The main courses were fired out very soon after and I we were unable to finish them due to the over richness of the dishes and so I asked if we could have them packed to take home we were told they had no facilitys to package the food??? Not once did they ask how our food was, unsuprisingly.
The final problem was the bill £ 82.00 for 2 courses and drinks ( 2 adults 2 children under 6) come on. There are many other Italian restaraunts in the area with better food, service and prices.

I have been to this restaraunt on numerous occasions with friends and family, large groups over 20 and small groups. The setting is absolutly beautiful and i love the crystal chandeliers! The food is always well presented and delicious. The service was reasonable with no complaints. I am a very picky eater and find it hard to find restaraunts which are this consistantly good. Myself and family tend to go there for birthdays and celebrations etc and they are very accomodating letting you decorate the table and bringing out a cake for you ( you have to provide the cake), Although by the end of the night you will be sick of hearing the happy birthday song and celebrations song! I am going tomorrow and there is a large party of us and I personally cannot wait! Would recommend to all! And for all the whiners- you only get what you pay for- therefore it is very reasonably priced!

I don't know who "John" is who is putting the good reviews on this page but he has to be the manager or owner of this restuarant. The only recommendation I would make is to give it a miss. The whole night was very dissapointing in everything from the service, quality of the food to the attitude of the staff. It was a cheap cafe experience for an expensive restaurant price.

We love quality food, good service and friendly atmosphere, hence the reason we go to the Sorrento restaurant in Ashton In Makerfield.
We travel a long distance to eat at this restaurant and they have never disappointed us. The food is delicious, the service is good and they have an acceptable selection of good wines.
You will not find a finer place than Sorrento in Ashton In Makerfield for miles.
Dont listen to some of those grumpy reviewers, try this place and you will go back again and again, we will.

Get a life Tony!
You had a good meal and enjoyed the restaurant. Why expect a reward for finding some money in the wallet! You had two bottles of wine and paid for them. End of story; stop mithering the restaurant!
It's great food and a great atmosphere.
Ashton's best!

I was recomended to eat at this restaurant by a number of people and was not disapointed with the food or the restaurant.
On presentaion of the bill in the wallet, when I opened it there was another customers monry still inside that had not been tilled, being an honest person I gave the money back and informed them of there error to which the manager was greatfull and rewarded my honesty with a refund on ine bottle of my ordered wine, All sounds to good to be tru I hear you all say.
The following morning when I looked at my bill I noticed that the restaraunt had charged me double for the wine I had actually ordered, instaed of two bottles I had been charged for four, when I rang the restaraunt to tell them there error I was asked to come back and produce the reciept. I have been back three times now with the manager never available and been told the manager WILL call you, well guess what !, I am still waiting for that call after numerious telephone calls and never being able to speak to the manager and STILL no refund.
sometimes it just geos to show that Honesty does NOT pay.
But an honest resaruant should honor and congratulate its customers.
Check your bill before you leave this restaruant.

My partner and I were celebrating our engagement and decided to go out and have a romantic meal.
We chose Sorrento restaurant in Ashton In Makerfield and had the most delicious meal we have had in a very long time. The restaurant is modern and welcoming and the food was just fab.
We had a lovely time there and would recommend it to anyone who wants to have a good time out. Thank you Sorrento........

The restaurant obviously views itself at a standard above and beyond anything it could ever wish to achieve. Cutting of corners is opitomised in Sorrento's... displaying an air of quality that is ultimately lacking! The food, the decor and the atmosphere just isn't worthwhile in any respect. The whole expoerience just leaves you wondering why you even bothered?

The interior of this restaurant has changed completely since the dark plastic crawling Ivy days of 'Ciros'. Now tastefully furnished with the contemporary modern fittings it was difficult not to be impressed by the decor.
Ordering Garlic King prawns, Mussels in a hot and spicy sauce, bbq spare ribs and garlic bread the appetisers were just that. Every dish was cooked and presented to perfection. The service was appropriate - not too intimidating or over zealous, and for a first visit things were going too well. Even the ambience was just how we like it in a restaurant.
The main dishes included pizza and a spaghetti with meat balls. This is when things began to go wrong. The pizza was priced accordingly for a retaurant but after it arrived I felt let down. It looked burnt and the base itself was full of fat. I have tasted frozen pizzas that are much, much nicer. The meat balls dish appeared a little too dry but i was told that all it lacked was some extra sauce. Children's portions were far too big and it seemed an extravagant waste of food to pile their plates so high with chips.
First choice sweet dishes were unavailabe but those that were were tasty and well presented.
Drinks were appropriately priced.
It was just a pity that the main course was a real let down because the 'starters' were out of this world. Maybe the restaurant should invest in a 'proper' pizza oven?
Overall, we will visit again, but avoiding the pizza.
