me and my girlfreind suzy booked online as a last minuet get away, on arrival we had a good feeling about the place before even getting out of the car and it only got better when we got inside, the staff were freindly and helpful and although the rooms were dated in decor it added that little extra carachter which we both really enjoyed we stayed in the budget rooms and ive stayed in many hotels and have paid a lot more for so called executive suites that have not been much different i would most deffinately stay at this hotel again and recommend to anyone rooms are clean ours had a bath in it and i was most impressed with the size of the bath usually they are small and as im over 6' cant really relax but the bath in our en-suite was long aswell as deep and i almost fell asleep relaxing in it :) also it is close to loads of nice places and the food mmm scrummy gorgeous, one thing i will advise dont bother with the george and dragon down the road quite snobby and not very polite the complete oposit to the staff at the clifton the young girl that brought us our meals was so helpful i asked about desserts as there wasnt a list and the girl went away and returned with a list she had written with all the desserts availible i thought this was excellent and reflected the rest of the staff also did not end up having dessert though the meal was more than enough good sized portions no room left now if i have not sent you to sleep with this long review i suggest if you want a nice place to stay go book the clifton you wont be dissapointed i wasnt oh and try the cider on tap scrumptious go enjoy a stay at this hotel all the best damion and suzy

Good Points: Quick booking procedure online and friendly staff Bad Points: Hotel was run down although there were signs that refurbishment is taking place. Limited bar menu until 20:30 hours only as the main restaurant was reserved for coach parties. General smell of damp and dis-use around the hotel public areas and in the room. Although my room was described as "budget" on the website access was from an inner courtyard which was brightly lit all night, with very thin curtains, and did not encourage relaxing sleep. General review: Barely value for money and not worh the saving over e.g. Travelodge
