Because of the excellent reviews I booked to stay here for 2 nights while I was working in the area. When I arrived I was informed that breakfast was not available until 9 am. Since I had to leave to work before 8 am, I asked if it was possible to have breakfast before this. I was offered cereal. I accepted there was nothing more they could do on the first morning but asked if breakfast could be arranged for the second morning of my stay. I was told it was not possible, was shouted at and insultyed by the landlady and her daughter and was told to leave. As a result I was sent away with nowhere to stay at 11 o'clock at night and the prospect of a journey across the moorlands in thick fog. I think you may wish to review your endorsement of this hotel as a place visitors to Britain might wish to stay.

I was part of a walking party which had lunch at this well maintained pub. It was an interesting venue with several rooms full of memorabilia. The host (later discovered to be magician Chris Stevenson) was very friendly and full of fun. The food was excellent, in large portions and reasonably priced. Before we left we were treated to some hilarious, impromptu magic by Chris which made our visit even more memorable. Higly recommended.
