Built in 1895 For John Stuart McCaig who financed the construction of Oban's famous local landmark known as McCaig's Tower, the house exhudes an opulence in keeping with its late Victorian origins. Our eleven bedrooms are spacious and many enjoy spectacular views over both entrances of Oban Bay, the harbour and the islands. You can relax in the comfort of your room or in one of our guest areas and enjoy the big skies, nature at its best or indeed the daily life of the sea front and bay. Our rolling programe of refurbishment allows us to decorate each room individually, and in doing so we have attempted to create a relaxing enviornment for our guests to unwind and to enjoy. Our housekeeping staff pride themselves in their attention to detail and maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness. All our rooms have en-suite facilities, hospitality trays, hair dryer, radio alarm clocks and television with Freeview channels (many also have DVD). Some bedrooms (as well as the lounge and bar areas) also have free WiFi access. All double beds are at least UK king size with the exception of our cosy and romantic modern 4 poster room. Our breakfast menu is extensive and allows for different dietary requirements. The elegant and comfortable guests lounge with it's range of games, magazines and literature and stunning views, is an ideal spot for quiet relaxation. It offers a truly peaceful place in which to observe the many beautiful sunsets Oban is blessed with, or enjoy watching the wildlife or promenading visitors to the bay. The view from our windows we believe is second to none. Why not savour a pre dinner drink before heading into the town to enjoy one of Oban's many fine restaurants which cater for wide variety of tastes and budgets, or indeed a post dinner drink watching the sunset. We are licensed (the only licensed guest house on The Esplanade - guests use only) and our bar, lounge, patio (probably summertime!) or your room are ideal for this.
