The Clerkenwell Dining Room, under the direction of chef Andrew Thompson and co-owner Zak Jones, is a calm, inviting room of intimate proportions offering friendly, spiffy service. The style is contemporary with reds and blues predominating and it's an oasis of the business folk who frequent this spot. The mezzanine level private dining room overlooks the restaurant, and has the same sophisticated décor complemented by the unusual architectural design. The pan European menu offers terrifically high standards of preparation and presentation with surprising affordability. Start with The Clerkenwell's famous Bloody Mary or an elegant Kir royale within the lounge. Dishes include yellow fin tuna nicoise, red peppers and tonnato dressing, Duo of beef, braised short rib of beef and seared rump steak, Almond crusted duck breast, honey and mustard dressed spring vegetables; as well as heavenly desserts. The lunch menu changes weekly so it's worth going often.
