One of Midlothian's favourite tourist attractions features free-flying butterflies in a large indoor rainforest. This tropical paradise is landscaped with waterfalls, ponds and exotic flowering plants. Visitors walk through observing the butterflies' natural behaviour as they fly, feed and lay eggs.

The 'Bugs and Beasties' exhibition includes tarantulas, stick insects, leaf-cutting ants, scorpions and frogs. 'Meet the Beasties' sessions are held daily, where visitors are encouraged to handle some of our friendly creatures.

The Live Animal Experience continues with the Reptile Room, displaying Lizards, Chameleons and giant Pythons.

Other facilities include a gift shop; Scotland's largest garden centre; licensed tearoom; play and picnic areas; free car and coach parking.
