Indigo Jones was founded 1861 primarily to produce school writing slates. Today the company uses the same raw material, namely Welsh slate, to produce architectural, memorial and craft items.

The self-guided tour of the works includes a video presentation, a taped commentary on a walkman as well as a geological, historical, lettercutters and calligraphy exhibition. An opportunity exists to have a go at calligraphy and lettercuttery and a piece of slate is provided for you to keep as a souvenir.
