The Queen's Head is a 17th Century inn on the ancient coaching route which ran between Windermere and Penrith. This hostelry dating back almost 400 years, nestles within the tranquil Troutbeck valley with unsurpassed views of Garburn Pass, High Street and Ill Bell Ridge. 15 characterful bedrooms, a highly rated restaurant and a welcoming bar make The Queen's Head a must for all visitors to the English Lake District.

The Queen's Head has a tradition and a reputation for serving some of the finest food in the area. Relaxed and informal, menus are imaginatively prepared and are complemented by fine wines and a splendid choice of ales. One of our most important original features is The Mayor's Chair, which is a gloriously carved oak chair. This is the setting for Troutbeck's traditional Mayor-Making Ceremony, which dates back to Elizabethan times and is still continued to this very day.
