The Cross Keys Hotel, Canonbie, is one of Scotlands oldest Coaching inns. Built in the 17th Century, this Scottish Hotel is now the heart of Canonbie village and although the Hotel has recently undergone some fairly major internal renovations, it still retains the old world charm and hospitality that it has become so well known for.The Cross Keys Hotel is located in the centre of Canonbie, Scotland, which nestles within the valley of the Border Esk River. Canonbie is just off the A7, Carlisle to Edinburgh trunk road, and is the ideal stop over point for those who are travelling between north and south, Scotland to England. Gretna Green, probably the most famous wedding venue in Europe, is less than 20 minutes away, and The Cross Keys Hotel Canonbie has, for decades, been a favourite base for newly weds and their families. The town of Carlisle with its historic castle and THE LANES pedestrians shopping centre is only 14 miles away. Dumfries, famed for its connections with Robert Burns, is within easy reach by car. Canonbie is an ideal location from which to explore the beautiful and scenic areas which the borders boast to offer. There is wealth of things to see and do, such as Stately homes and places of interest as well as the characterful Border towns, world famous for their woollen products and tweeds.
