As well as being excellent for climbing and walking – the Cuillin Hills are about 5 miles away – the area offers many other delights. The Talisker Distillery (2½ miles) welcomes visitors, Dunvegan Castle is well worth exploring (15 miles) and the Clan Donald Centre is 30 miles' drive. Portree, the island's principal town, boasts sports facilities including cycle hire, good shopping and the Aros Centre, with its cinema, exhibitions and restaurants. Pub serving food and shop/P.O. in Carbost, 2½ miles.
