Birstall
Birstall is a large historic village in Yorkshire, home to over eight thousand seven hundred people, set betwixt Bradford, and Leeds. There's a Victorian Market Place where the statue of Joseph Priestley who discovered Oxygen proudly stands, and a chance to follow in the footsteps of Charlotte Bronte as she also visited Elizabethan Oakwell Hall where fascinating rooms show what life was like. Museum lovers will be enthralled at Dewsbury Museum where toys and exhibits reverse time, or possibly the Moravian Museum housed in two 17th Century cottages will please with it's intriguing Parlour and Weavers Chamber. Perhaps the promise of a rainforest, and Butterfly House will tempt a visit to the Victorian Manor House of Bagshaw Museum. Brave hearts can venture deep underground at the National Coal Mining Museum which is situated in the Caphouse Colliery. If shopping is yearned for maybe the Mill Shopping Village will tick all of the boxes, or there is always the 300 colourful stalls to choose from at Dewsbury Market. Haworth
Visitors to the excellent Brontė Parsonage Museum are close to other significant sites. Adjacent to the Parsonage is St Michael and All Angels church where Emily and Charlotte Brontė are buried in the family vault. Pudsey
Pudsey is an ancient market town on the foothills of the Yorkshire Pennines, famed for it's woollen production and more recently 'Pudsey Bear', it offers a buffet of delights whether it's the Market held three times a week, or discovering the narrow cobbled lanes and mellow stone buildings from a different era. The pages of history are turned at 12th Century Kirkstall Abbey, visitors may see Open Air Theatre, and artists can follow in the footsteps of Turner. Or possibly the magnificent 15th Century architecture of Bradford Cathedral will be favourite. For a thought provoking experience the site of the Battle of Adwalton is where a bloody battle was fought in 1643, or how about the Royal Armouries Museum which has eight thousand unforgettable exhibits.
