Saltfleet, Lincolnshire is situated on England's East Coast, about eight miles north of Mablethorpe. The seaside village is now home to some large holiday resorts and is a popular destination for families. The wild bird sanctuary at Saltfleet Havens is amongst the many places of interest locally. In 2002, it achieved fame amongst the bird watching community when a very rare Long-billed Dowitcher was photographed at the sanctuary. Another popular attraction for animal and nature lovers is The Seal Sanctuary located nearby in Mablethorpe. There are many rescued orphaned seals to see at the sanctuary, making it a great place to visit with children. Adults and children alike will enjoy the Pleasure Island Theme Park, with its white knuckle rides, cabaret entertainment and sea-lion shows. If you still need excitement after that, Manby Motorplex is a motorsport venue offering driving experiences including rally and 4x4. The fishing port of Grimsby is another place you might like to visit, being just over 10 miles up the coast. A little further away is the impressive Tattershall Castle; this vast and moated tower was built in 1434 for Ralph Cromwell, lord Treasurer of England. The castle fell into neglect following his death, but was restored in the early 20th century.
