Port Governe is a charming hamlet overlooking the sea, cloaked by high cliffs just a few minutes from Port Isaac in Cornwall. The quiet beach has sandy bottomed caves and rock pools with interesting creatures waiting to be discovered. Or there is always the amazing site of nearby Delabole Slate Quarry that’s over 400 feet deep, a tour is well worth a visit. The mysterious legend of kind Arthur surrounds Tintagel Castle, that sits on the edge of a dramatic coastline, high above the sea with thundering waves. Merlin’s Cave is below the castle, or perhaps a walk along the Coastal Path where sea birds fly over head will fill your thoughts of Pendragon, and Wizards and Knights of the Round Table. If a trip to a Museum is more for you, the choice is plentiful, from The North Cornwall Museum and Gallery that’s home to many exhibits including a Moorland Cottage, or how about the British Cycling Museum where over 400 exhibits of cycles ranging from 1818 are on display. For a journey into an elegant era the steam locomotives of the Bodmin and Wenford Railway travel through beautiful Cornish countryside. Or how about a tour around the Camel Valley Vineyard where the intricacies of wine making are explained and of course the best bit of all … the tasting.
