St Blazey is a small town known for it’s mining of copper and tin and more recently china clay, however tourism has now moved to the forefront of this delightful town, which is just a few miles from the busy market town of St Austell and a mile from ‘The Eden Project‘ with it‘s unusual Biomes. The ‘Clay Trails Of Cornwall’ is one way to enjoy the stunning scenery of this countryside. Or perhaps a visit to Pine Lodge Gardens, 30 acres of visual pleasure, that combines different types of gardens such as Japanese, woodland, cottage and many more with exotic and beautiful planting, together with a fountain and even a lake, home to black swans that are silently mirrored against the water. How about a Norman Castle, well Restormel Castle is three miles away and was built in 1100, The Black Prince even held court here for a short time in 1354, all of this is only a mile away from the Medieval town of Lostwithiel. A visit to the Treffry Viaduct is worth it, an amazing feat of engineering built in 1842,by the mine owner Joseph Treffry. There is definitely more than one reason to visit St Blazey.
