Interested in magic tricks as a child. Began performing with Combined Services Entertainment in Middle East during WWII. Began wearing his trademark headgear, a red fez. Developed his act in clubs and music halls basing it on performing complicated tricks ineptly. Had his own television series in the 1950s, It’s Magic. Died during live transmission of the television show Live From Her Majesty’s.
