Studied at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Joined Royal Shakespeare Company in 1966. Has had a distinguished and successful career in theatre for over 50 years. Well known for his roles as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation and as Professor Xavier in the X-Men films.
