Made his West End debut in The Voysey Inheritance (1934). Continued his film career after serving in intelligence during WWII appearing in films including The Magic Bos (1951) and The Barefoot Contessa (1955). On television appeared in The Adventures of the Scarlet Pimpernel and The Expert.
