Born 1851 - Hobart, Tasmania. Died 1920 - English novelist.



Family returned to Britain in 1856. Greatest success was her romantic novel Robert Elsmere (1888). Later novels included Marcella (1894) and The Case of Richard Meynell (1911). Social worker and anti-suffragette, first president of Anti-Suffrage League in 1918.
